Why is rehabilitation so important?
After surgery, the tissue is damaged and your body needs to recover. Without proper guidance, there's a risk of loading too quickly or too slowly, loss of muscle strength, joint stiffness, and ultimately a less optimal end result. A well-guided rehabilitation means faster, more complete and more lasting recovery.
Knee rehabilitation
After cruciate ligament reconstruction, meniscus surgery or knee replacement, physiotherapy is essential. We start as early as possible after surgery, reducing swelling, restoring movement and building muscle strength. Each phase of recovery has its own goals, which we track closely. A return to sport only happens once your knee is genuinely ready for it.
Shoulder rehabilitation
After shoulder stabilisation, rotator cuff surgery or shoulder replacement, rehabilitation often takes several months. We work systematically on range of motion, strength and coordination of the shoulder, always following the surgeon's guidelines and tailoring the progression to your recovery.
Hip and spine
After hip replacement or spinal surgery, early mobilisation is crucial. We help you move independently again as quickly as possible, walk safely, and resume daily activities. From there we build further on strength and fitness so that, over time, you can do everything you want again.
How do we work with the surgeon?
We work closely with the orthopaedic surgeon who performed your operation. We're familiar with the common protocols and always align the progression with what the surgeon has advised. Have a discharge letter or rehabilitation protocol? Bring it to your first appointment so we can determine the right approach straight away.
When to start?
The sooner you start, the better. In some cases we begin the day after surgery. Get in touch as soon as possible after your operation so we can schedule an appointment. No referral is required, though your health insurer may ask for one for reimbursement purposes, we're happy to help you sort that out.
